Seahouses Seaside Amateur Drama Club

The story so far...

Let us tell you about just some of the things we’ve been up to – and if you like the sound of it, why not come and join us for a session?

Our workshop sessions often begin with some gentle vocal warm-ups, then move onto drama games which help to build our improvisational skills and dramatic personas!  Then we tackle some script work, or readings.

In December 2015 we had our first small sharing of “A Christmas Medley”, which included songs, poems and readings all on a seasonal theme, including a rousing rendition of “The 12 Days of Seahouses’s Christmas”.

After that, we got serious!  Well, kind of!  We spent most of the year preparing from scratch for our performance of “A Medium-Sized Night Out” in January 2017!  Read more about that here.

As well as our practical workshops, we’ve been on some outings to the Playhouse in Alnwick, to see how the pros do it!  From classics like Waiting for Godot and Pygmallion, to brand new pieces from emerging companies, and an energetic, punky version of Animal Farm.  These trips have left us full of inspiration and brimming with ideas!

Right now we're working on a new play with the working title "Hats Off to Maggie Milner".  It's great to be on a journey towards another production – it's such an exciting time to see something emerge from paper onto the stage.  Hopefully, this will be ready for another January performance.  We'll keep you posted on this one!

What would you like to see us do?  Maybe you’ve got some skills and experience you’d be willing to share with us in a workshop?  Why not drop us an e-mail, or come along to one of our sessions?  We’d love some new members – there’s no pressure to perform, or even join in, just come and see what we get up to and help spread the word.
